AEA is an organisation composed of private entities, government agencies, research institutes, universities and individual members, acting as a forum for discussions of scientific and technological subjects concerning Automotive Engineering.

The leading automakers and parts suppliers provide an important institutional support to AEA. Individual memberships include industry, government and university leaders altogether with engineers and technicians working in the automotive field. AEA acts through its technical committees, co-ordinated by respected specialists which make recommendations for government, standards and specifications. Also, AEA periodically prepares symposia, meetings and congresses on the various areas within automotive engineering.
