HDMV was formerly part of the Yugoslav Society for Engines and Vehicles (JUMV) and first founded as the independent Croatian Society for Engines and Vehicles in 1993.

The society promotes the continuation of the industrial heritage in the field of engines and vehicles and the technical and scientific automotive activity. It contributes to the realisation of efficient, reliable and sustainable transportation and provides permanent support to young engineers and students.
