Automotive OEMs are convinced of the effectiveness of collaboration methodologies using virtual models such as MBD, and are trying to implement them to the development process. However, in the practical progress of applying them to the development process, many barriers are found in collaborations among various teams, and it becomes difficult to secure the intended effect. In this study, while carrying out a collaborative process using a Virtual Prototype that models the entire characteristics of the vehicle corresponding to the product, we explored ways to secure efficiency from the perspective of the development system. The situations of the vehicle development process, which are the background of this study, are as follows. 1) Rising demand to save resources required for development by applying MBD to the development process. 2) Confusing from various virtual prototypes that are heterogeneous in terms of form and content 3) High effort required to integrate models into a virtual prototype. In order to solve this situations, the first step was to define the problem that several domains had to solve in common. In this study, the goal was to establish a 1D-Simulation model to evaluate the energy efficiency of electric vehicles. In the second step, collaboration was designed and performed to create a virtual prototype that predicts electric vehicle energy efficiency. In the third step, the process of verifying the completed virtual prototype not only the correlation of the output but also ways to improve collaboration efficiency were reviewed. As a result of the study, we succeeded in integrating virtual prototype for energy efficiency calculation by collecting models of various domains according to the set purpose. However, as a result of comparing the output by the virtual prototype with actual vehicle test results, it was confirmed that the required level of correlation was not achieved. In order to improve the correlation, it is necessary to improve the behavior of the model at the domain level, but it's not reviewed in the scope of this study. In order to increase the utilization in the process, the correlation set are visualized in terms of process progress and domain. By using this, it is possible to analyze at which development stage virtual prototype can be used and to which domain the models require improvement. To apply the suggestion of this study, the methodology and tools for the model must be agreed throughout the development organization, and the vehicle development process must be stabilized. If required models rarely exist within an organization, it is highly likely that a lot of effort and cost will be required to secure a model to apply MBD. Although not attempted in this study, it is necessary to find ways to increase efficiency even in situations where customer or development requirements change. In order to apply model-based collaboration to the development process, great efforts and time are required in the preparation and planning stages for implementing to the organization. The method of this study is expected to contribute reducing the time and effort required for implementation of the collaborative methodology by proposing and participating in case-based empirical collaboration. It was carried out with an emphasis on concept verification and validation rather than quality assurance of development results, and a method of comprehensively grasping the models each domain had individually from the process and vehicle level perspectives was proposed. Through this, it is expected that the collaboration efficiency of each domain that develops various vehicle elements will be improved. However, in the development process, there is still room for additional efficiency improvement by utilizing V.P. and models, and research and efforts need to be invested in finding a methodology that can identify and improve these in the future.
