What do you find most interesting about the topic of your presentation?

How we can change the brake industry, with new technology.


When discussing this topic with industry peers, what question are you most frequently asked? How do you answer it?

Mostly it is about safety, is it safe? Today’s system are known, but not very safe. It’s up to the drive to notice some failures. Today’s systems don’t have the diagnostic capability to support future demands.


Who do you think will be most interested in your presentation, and who would you most like to ask questions about it?

End users of commercial vehicles would probably wave the most interesting questions. OEM’s already have some knowledge about EMB, but to end users, it will feel like something new.


What specific topics or technology are you hoping to see in other presentations or in the exhibition?

It would be nice to see other technologies that can remove the need of pneumatics, in commercial vehicles.

About Anders Nilsson.

Anders Nilsson is an EMB system engineer with more than 25 years’ experience of Electromechanical Brake technology. He started his work in EMB development in rail-way applications in 1995.


In 2003 Anders started to work for Haldex in Sweden.


Anders participated in EU funded research projects SPARC (2004-2007) and HAVEit (2008-2011), where the brake by wire technology was exploited for scalability, redundancy, and integration with highly automated driving (ADAS, L4-L5).


In 2014 he moved to Shanghai and worked as system lead in the joint venture that was setup in 2016 to industrialize the EMB system and introduce it to the Chinese market.
