Influence of System Boundary Condition on the NVH Behaviour of Bogie Brake Simulation

Name: Andreas Krumm

Organisation: TU Braunschweig

Presentation Title: Influence of System Boundary Condition on the NVH Behaviour of Bogie Brake Simulation (EB2021-STP-010)

Session: Simulation, Testing, Innovative Development Processes (rail), Thursday 20th May 2021, 09:00 - 10:40 (Central European Time CEST)

What do you find most interesting about the topic of your presentation?

My interest is grounded in the development of techniques to reduce very complex systems to their essential properties in order to study various dynamical phenomena. The challenge is to find the right balance between accuracy and practicality.

When discussing this topic with industry peers, what question are you most frequently asked? How do you answer it?

One often asked question deals with product development under the constraints of lightweight issues and comfort in Railway Brakes. A special focus here is the NVH-behaviour.

Who do you think will be most interested in your presentation, and who would you most like to ask questions about it?

The lecture should be relevant for everyone who is interested in the development and modelling of lightweight brakes in trains.

What specific topics or technology are you hoping to see in other presentations or in the exhibition?

I am looking forward to and am excited about other presentations from the train industry. I would be particularly interested in simulative or measurement investigations of the brake in the train, which examines the dynamic or NVH behaviour of the brake.

About Andreas Krumm

Andreas Krumm studied Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University of Braunschweig. After graduating, he started his career as a research engineer in the tribology group under Prof. Dr. Ostermeyer at the Institute of Dynamics and Vibrations at Technical University of Braunschweig. Since then he has been working on the modelling of technical braking systems in for railway. His research is focuses on the NVH behaviour of the brakes in Rail-Wheel-Systems.
