What do you find most interesting about the topic of your presentation?

The amount of innovation and high level of safety brought into this product development.


When discussing this topic with industry peers, what question are you most frequently asked? How do you answer it?

The most frequent question is : Which benefits can this innovative product bring to a railways operator? And my answer would be: Increased reliability and safety, capability to operate trains with reduced headway due to improved braking distances and reduced Life Cycle Cost.


Who do you think will be most interested in your presentation, and who would you most like to ask questions about it?

Our competitors as well as out typical customers would be the most interested. I would like to receive questions from our customers.


What specific topics or technology are you hoping to see in other presentations or in the exhibition?

Use of electromechanical (airless) brake in the railways domain.

About Fabio Ferrara.

Fabio Ferrara is a RAMS/LCC Manager at Wabtec Corporation, responsible for RAMS and LCC activities of the Brakes and Couplers product lines.


Fabio studied Management Engineering at Federico II university in Naples, Italy. Over the last 9 years he has gained a significant experience in the RAMS domain for the Railways market, starting as a RAMS Engineer at Ansaldo STS, a railway signaling company, and then joining Faiveley Transport, one of the biggest rolling stock equipment manufacturers.


Today Fabio leads a multicultural team of RAMS/LCC engineers distributed all over the world and is personally involved in the development of the Faiveley Transport’s next generation brake control devices.
