The Characteristics & Prospects of Lightweight SiCAlight Discs in Emerging Disc Brake Requirements

Name: Samuel Awe

Presentation Title: The Characteristics and Prospects of Lightweight SiCAlight Discs in The Emerging Disc Brake Requirements (EB2021-MDS-012)

Session: Advances in Rotor Technology, Friday 21st May 2021, 12:00-13:40 (Central European Summer Time - CEST)

What do you find most interesting about the topic of your presentation?

The possibility to use SiCAlight brake disc as an alternative to the regular brake rotors because of its durability, excellent wear resistant, lightweight, and low propensity to squealing. SiCAlight discs can be fitted to EVs, light and medium weight vehicles.

When discussing this topic with industry peers, what question are you most frequently asked? How do you answer it?

Is there any alternative brake disc material available in the market today? Yes, SiCAlight discs. What can be done to improve the wear and corrosion resistance of the traditional brake discs?

Who do you think will be most interested in your presentation, and who would you most like to ask questions about it?

Anyone, but most especially the automakers.

What specific topics or technology are you hoping to see in other presentations or in the exhibition?

Innovations in brake system development; Brake noise, vibration, and harshness NVH; Surface treatment technology to improve wear and corrosion resistance.
