FISITA has begun to publish a series of Spotlight Q&A posts showcasing some of this year’s authors. With the EuroBrake 2020 Technical Programme now available, these posts provide some additional background with questions about their presentation topic, the impact of coronavirus on their work and who they think will find their presentation most interesting. The posts also include a short introduction to the authors.
The first post features Andreas Paulus who authored Influence of Test Cycle and Energy Input on Brake Emissions for EuroBrake 2020. Paulus is a development engineer in the R&D department of TMD Friction responsible for brake emissions and new disc coatings. He welcomes questions from OEMs, suppliers and experts on particle emission measurement.
Severin Huemer-Kals, who authored Startup and Bifurcation Behavior of Non-Linear Stick-Slip Vibrations: Creep Groan Occurrence for Increasing and Decreasing Speeds features in a second post. Severin Huemer-Kals has been working on brake NVH engineering for more than 4 years and he is currently working on his doctoral thesis regarding low-frequency creep groan phenomena at the Institute of Automotive Engineering at Graz University of Technology.
The third FISITA Spotlight post features answers from Alexander Vogel is a Research Engineer in the tribology working group around Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ostermeyer at the Institute of Dynamics and Vibrations in Braunschweig, Germany. He is currently researching adaptive contact guiding in an automated tribometer. He has authored On Self-adjusting Contacts in Pin-On-Disk Testers for EuroBrake 2020.
Air Quality Modelling on the Contribution of Brake Wear Emissions to Particulate Matter Concentrations Using a High-Resolution Brake Use Inventory by Daniel Wakeling is the fourth FISITA Spotlight post in this batch. Dan is a Senior Consultant at Ricardo Energy & Environment where he specialises in the analysis of vehicle emissions data.
Test Device for Precise Investigations of Transport Phenomena in the Boundary Layer by Felix Rickhoff is covered in the fifth FISITA Spotlight post. Felix is a research assistant in the tribology working group around Prof. Dr.-Ing. G.-P. Ostermeyer at the Institute of Dynamics and Vibrations in Braunschweig, Germany.
Kamil Zawalich is featured in the sixth Spotlight post. He is a development engineer at Erdrich with a company-wide responsibility for the finite element simulation of brake, chassis and powertrain components made of sheet metal. He has authored the EuroBrake 2020 paper entitled Composite Brake Disc with Stamped Aluminium Hub - an Ultra Lightweight Variant for Luxury and Sports Cars.
The last of this batch of seven FISITA Spotlight posts features Vincenzo Ricciardi, who is currently working as research associate at the University of Ilmenau on the development of vehicle dynamics control functions. His Artificial Neural Network Regression Models for the Prediction of Brake-related Emissions paper and presentation are available on this site.
Abstracts are available to browse freely, but downloads of papers and presentations require registration.
