16 July Changchun, China and online
Name: Dr. Feng Chen, Associate Professor
Company: Tongji University
Presentation Title: Driving behaviour and truck safety under the influence of cross-wind
Session: Impacts of Human Factors on Safety
What are you planning to talk about at the Intelligent Safety Conference, and who do you think will benefit most from what you have to say?
The topic is 'Driving behaviour and truck safety under the influence of cross-wind'. I would expect interest from scholars who study driving behaviour or truck manufacturers, or operation companies of long span bridges.
Intelligent safety technology is at the heart of mobility development – how do you see it evolving as ADAS develops into fully autonomous functionality?
Fully autonomous functionality is much more powerful than ADAS in many scenarios in the future, for example, Truck Platooning. There are already many applications about ADAS for trucks, but Truck Platooning will change transportation systems and related infrastructure considerably. For mobility development, society needs to prepare for the rapid development of Intelligent safety technology and study the relevant influence in advance.
What other factors do you expect to shape the development of intelligent safety technology? (e.g., legislation or standards, new technology, or changing consumer expectations)
Legislation or standards, but also planning, construction and renewal of transportation infrastructure. Intelligent safety technology is not only about the technology of vehicles, interaction, coordination and common development of transportation infrastructure and Intelligent safety technology is also very important.
"Intelligent safety technology is not only about the technology of vehicles, interaction, coordination and common development of transportation infrastructure.... is also very important".
What attracts you personally to the area of intelligent safety?
The rapid development of fully autonomous functionality will bring some new issues about the safety of the transportation system. The relationship between vehicle intelligent technology and its safety impact is the direction I am most interested in.
What advances or changes in intelligent safety would you most like to see implemented in mainstream vehicles?
Vehicle safety in adverse weather can be realized through vehicle road cooperation technology and advanced vehicle control systems.
