Ingemar Johansson, President of SVEA

How long have you been president of SVEA?

In April 2021 I was appointed President of SVEA, Swedish Vehicular Engineering Association (chairman in the SVEA board).

What range of activities and services does your society offer?

SVEA arranges seminars and issues information that can be of interest to its members. SVEA also coordinates visits to different workplaces to learn about companies and to network. SVEA supports young engineers during their studies and when they start work.

What is the primary language spoken for technical discussion?

Swedish is the primary language and we use English as and when required.

How can engineers benefit from membership of your society, and how can they join?

SVEA is primarily a society for the exchange of information and for networking. As well as information to the members of SVEA we also spread information about automotive activities to the public. It is possible to join as a member through our website. (in Swedish)

What are the benefits of corporate membership to SVEA?

Corporate society membership provides companies access to the vast knowledge and experience of our members and provides networking opportunities.

Can you tell us which key mobility trends your society is currently focusing on?

We are currently focussing on: Vehicle Safety, Automated driving, non-fossil powertrains.

What opportunities do these trends create for engineers developing the technology of mobility?

The increased demand on environmentally friendly mobility will increase the scope of the work and it will require high level engineering solutions. Other technical areas will expand, e.g. control systems, software development and materials technology. This will require that more generalist engineers are required in projects in the future.
